Activating a new era

BonBon helps bring Nicholas Street Precinct to life, one experience at a time

Nicholas Street Precinct- Art led hoarding project

BonBon was engaged to support the revitalisation of Nicholas Street Precinct through a year-round program of placemaking, activations and event-led engagement. Designed to drive visitation, enliven the atmosphere and support tenant success, BonBon’s activation strategy brought energy, colour and creativity to Ipswich’s civic heart.

Working collaboratively with Ipswich City Council and precinct stakeholders, BonBon delivered a suite of activations to create buzz and build community connection – from art-led infrastructure and musical programming to surprise and delight moments and festive charm.

Key highlights included a high-impact precinct launch featuring a custom-branded coffee cart, curated catering from local food operators, and a Spend & Win competition with instant giveaways to drive foot traffic to neighbouring retailers. BonBon was also responsible for the creation and delivery of the precinct hub (Hoyts Building) Christmas theming, bringing festive spirit to the heart of the precinct.

A regular Live Music Fridays program entertained passers-by and encouraged after-work socialising, while roving entertainment during Easter and Christmas added seasonal joy to the experience. BonBon transformed vacant tenancies into vibrant canvases, covering hoardings with custom art-led murals, including a showstopping hand-painted piece by renowned street artist Drapl. A tree-lighting program further softened the streetscape, creating a warm and inviting environment to explore by day or night.
